I have chosen St. James Catholic Church in McDonough, Georgia as the destination location for my project. The Current GOAL for the travel bug is to visit Catholic Churches between McDonough, Georgia and Cumberland, Wisconsin.

St. James Catholic Church
McDonough, Ga.
In my research, a suggestion was to create tasks for the participants to keep them engaged. I added a vague timeline by stating, the bug hopes to arrive before summer so it can view the lovely lakes in Cumberland without snow.

Since the start and end locations are faith based I added some additional historical information about the faith and attached a blue crystal Catholic rosary and St. Catherine Labourne miraculous medal keyring to the bug.

Current GOAL

This bug would like to visit locations between McDonough, Georgia and Cumberland, Wisconsin. It hopes hope to arrive in Cumberland, Wisconsin before summer so it can view the lovely lakes in Cumberland without snow. Suggested locations for the trackable to visit could be various Roman Catholic Churches along the way.
Interesting facts about catholicism...
Catholicism arrived in what is now the United States in the earliest days of the European colonization of the Americas. The first Catholics were Spanish missionaries who came with Christopher Columbus to the New World on his second voyage in 1493.[4] In the 16th and 17th centuries, they established missions in what are now FloridaGeorgiaNew MexicoPuerto RicoTexas and later in California.
The number of Catholics grew from the early 19th century through immigration and the acquisition of the predominantly Catholic former possessions of France, Spain, and Mexico, followed in the mid-19th century by a rapid influx of IrishGermanItalian and Polish immigrants from Europe, making Catholicism the largest Christian denomination in the United States.
As this trackable makes its journey across the United States northward, please take time to add infomation about the catholic churches it visits along the way.
Attached is a blue crystal rosary and St. Catherine Labourne miraculous medal keyring. The keyring is a collectible for the first person (TFP) to begin its journey - please keep only the keyring. The rosary is to remain with the bug to provide prayerful safe travels for the person assisting it in reaching its final destination of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Cumberland, Wisconsin. Upon the arrival in Wisconsin, the last person (TLP) to assist it to its final destination (FD) at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cumberland Wisconsinis can keep the rosary as a gift.
Please upload images of this bug and tidbits of interesting facts as it travels to various locations enroute to its destination.
My Geocache Travel Bug

One way this could be used in the classroom, is to utilize college campuses or school districts. Educators could task the item with a projects for the finder to complete. Images of the project could be documented on the website for all participants to view. Each completion could engage new projects for other classes. With small children, destinations could be restrained to a smaller location in the classroom. With middle or high schools, destinations could be expand to school districts allowing a competition of sorts among peers in other schools. With college students, endless possibilities. I envision ROAD TRIP!
