2. Learning Goals: Geocaching in Education
Learning goals differ from teaching goals by specifically engaging the students mind, intellect, and personal experiences using what they already know and are capable of doing.
- develop technology skills to create an official geocache container holding a trackable
- develop skills using longitude and latitude to determine an appropriate safe location in which to place the geocaching container
- gain understanding to successfully register trackable items on the Geocaching.com website
- successfully track an item to its destination using the tracking number activation code stamped on the items trackable page on Geocaching.com
- gain an enhanced understanding of the Geocaching process
ISTE-NETS-S 3: Research and Information FluencyStudents apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information. Students:
- plan strategies to guide inquiry
- locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use information from a variety of sources and media
- evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on the appropriateness to specific tasks

- advocate and practice safe, legal, and responsible use of information and technology
- exhibit a positive attitude toward using technology that supports collaboration, learning, and productivity
- demonstrate personal responsibility for lifelong learning
- exhibit leadership skills necessary for digital citizenship
